About

What TotType is, and who makes it

TotType is a free browser typing site for children aged 1 to 8. It starts as a keyboard a baby can smash without breaking anything, grows into 22 learning games sorted by age, and ends in a 52-game arcade for the eight-and-ups — in English and Spanish, with nothing to install.

In one paragraph

The home page is a fullscreen keyboard playground: every key a toddler presses shows a giant letter, number or hand-drawn friend, with the keyboard locked so nothing else on the computer can happen. The learning games take a child from letter recognition to real sentences, each tagged with the age it suits. The arcade is a separate, free hall of original classics — a maze chase, a typing shooter, mini golf, pinball and more — for kids who have outgrown the toddler games but still benefit from fast, accurate keys. Progress, badges and a leaderboard nickname live under a parent's account.

What we will never do

No chat, ever.

No player can send a message to another player. The two-player games share a screen or a room code, never a text box.

No ads inside a game.

Ads appear only on pages a parent reads. Play surfaces carry none, and every unit on a page a child might see is tagged child-directed (no personalisation).

Nothing collected about a child.

The playground stores nothing at all. Signed-in play stores a points and keystroke tally per profile so the dashboard works — never what a child typed, never a name a stranger can see unless a parent chooses a leaderboard nickname.

A parent holds the account.

Every account is a parent's email, verified before anything saves. Children get named profiles under it, not accounts of their own.

Original games, original art.

All 74 games are built here. No licensed characters, no embedded third-party games, no downloads.

Free means free.

The playground and 7 learning games plus the whole arcade cost nothing with a free account. Two optional plans (Family $4.99/month, Family Plus $9.99/month) unlock the remaining learning games; cancel any time from the dashboard.

Who makes it

TotType is built and run by Equal Technology Solutions, an IT services company in Cleveland, Tennessee. It began as a keyboard toy for the founder's own toddler and grew into the site you are reading. The games are written in-house; the art is original; the copy is written by people, not generated.

Questions, a billing problem or an idea for a game: the contact page reaches a person, usually within a day. The privacy page says in plain words what is stored and why, and the terms are short enough to read.
